FAMOUS CHURCHES IN OOTY

1.St.STEPHEN'S CHURCH

St.Stepens church is one of the oldest church in ooty with breathtakingly architecture and fabulous stained  glass windows in a mystical woodland settings.
Located in road to Mysore ooty,Tamilnadu.The Church was built by British Government in 19 th century.

HISTORY
The foundation of the church was laid down by Stephan Rumpbold the Governor of Madras on April 23,1829.
The Timber that was used in construction was brought from Tipu sultan palace after defeating him.


2.HOLY TRINITY CHURCH

This church is one of the popular church in ooty and it is made up of gothic and holy trinity church.

This church is functioning from 1858.
George uglow pope ,tamil scholar and translator of major tamil literature like thirukural into English.
He has took part in the initiation of this church.



 3.SACRED HEART CHURCH 

Sacred Heart church  is one of the famous land mark in the ooty and it is located in havelock road in Ooty.

The Church was built in 19 the century.
THE lofty bell tower which attracts the attention of everybody.

4.UNION CHURCH
Union church was constructed in 19 century and resembles ancient colonial architecture.
Union church is considered as one of the important spiritual site and tourist place in ooty.
