Arignar Anna Zoological park also known as Vandalur zoo is a zoological garden located in vandalur near Chennai.Largest zoo in south east Asia and is spread across 1260 acres of land.
The park was named after renowned tamil politician,Arignar Anna.
It was set up in 1855 and was the first public zoo established in India.

Zoo has variety of animals such as brown bear,lions,Bengal tiger,White Tiger,wild ass,fox,girfee,Barking deer,Elephants, Bonnet Macaque,Chimpanzee,Langur,Hippopotamus,Indian giant squirrel,Kangaroo.




The park is bestowed with population of varied wildlife such as 47 sps of mammls,31 species pf Reptiles,5 species of Amphibians,birds,fishes and insects.
The zoo is the habitat for rare and endangered species of 46 animals.




Reptiles like king cobra,python,viper and birds like 63 bird species found here,Adjuntant stork,Macaw,Little cormorant,yellow watted lapwing,pelican,openbill stork,painted stork,bengal volture,grey heron,peacock and many more.
